英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
This study is being done to learn how the body responds early in the HIV infection period and how the body changes with HIV infection over several years whether or not someone is treated with antiretroviral drugs and/or immune-based therapies. More specifically the AIEDRP database study will do the following:
¿ Describe whether or not people in this study develop HIV-1 related problems
¿ Examine what kinds of side effects may occur during treatment of recent HIV infection;
¿ Follow the amount of HIV in the blood of those treated and untreated people identified during recent HIV infection
¿ Compare what factors determine the amount of immune blood cells (T cells) and the amount of HIV in treated and untreated people and describe how the immune cells may vary over time in treated and untreated people;
¿ Evaluate factors in treated and untreated people identified during their recent HIV infection that may influence the course of their disease and their response to treatment over the long-term.
