This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of this study is to determine the rate and extent of return of full liver function in patients who undergo removal of the right lobe of their liver for donation for transplantation. Standard blood tests and x-ray imaging of your liver do not give complete information about the degree of liver function. In this study we will use special tests to measure your liver's function and size, as well as the amount of regrowth of liver tissue that occurs after the right lobe is removed. These tests may be better than standard laboratory tests in measuring the degree of return of function after right lobe donation. These tests may also be useful in predicting which patients may suffer complications, especially those related to delay in return of liver function.
