英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
The purpose of this project is to assess the bio-behavioral changes occuring after applying a stressor in a well controlled laboratory setting. The project consists of a comprehensive study of stress that will encompass psychological and physiological assessments after applying stressors in a well controlled laboratory setting, and second, the assessment of a stress reducing Mind-Body Medicine (MBM) Skills program that is currently implemented in the medical and nursing schools curricula, at Georgetown University. Autonomic activity and patterns of responsiveness to laboratory stressors as well as the effects MBM Skills program will be evaluated on a new dimension.
Under Dr. Zukowska's leadership, a Stress Physiology and Research Center (SPaRC) was launched at the Department of Physiology and Biophysics with the objective to study stress physiology and pathophysiology using innovative methodology and state of the art biotechnology.
