Project Summary/Abstract
Charles River Analytics proposes to explore the feasibility of a Virtual Reality Train the Trainer (VRT3)
program that addresses the critical barriers to appropriately using VR training through a Phase I effort focused
on developing training and real-time support for instructors. VRT3 is significant because poorly implemented and
delivered VR training can have deleterious training effects when used in the wrong circumstances, or without
highly technologically literate trainers that are able to capture the full and appropriate value of these innovative
systems. The well documented and growing digital divide that would prevent broad adoption of VR training
systems presents a set of critical barriers that further drive inequities experienced by disadvantaged populations
who would otherwise benefit from these systems that are designed to keep people safe, healthy, and protect the
public health.
