英文摘要
Over the years, several systems for the delivery of alcohol have been utilized, including presenting the drug as a liquid diet, injecting it via gastric, intraperitoneal or intravenous  routes, and by exposing rodents to alcohol vapors. Each method has advantages and drawbacks that are abundantly discussed in the literature.  However, one significant problem that has consistently plagued research is the difficulty in reaching predictable blood alcohol levels (BALs) and, if desired, maintain them within given values. We propose to use the La Jolla Alcohol Research, Inc. inhalation system to overcome these critical barriers. This system is environmentally safe, compact, easy to use and, most importantly, a system that could achieve and maintain precise targeted BALs in various animal models.   In addition, we are also requesting funds for several critical replacement components for microscopes in our laboratory.
