We are requesting funds to purchase a Chevrolet Suburban 4x4 truck for use in field work on plant and animal ecology in the southwestern Yukon.  The truck will be used entirely in the Yukon on and around the Arctic Institute of North America Kluane Lake Field Station, 220 km northwest of Whitehorse. It will be the support vehicle for a major plant ecology research program under the supervision of Professor Roy Turkington and an animal ecology research program under the supervision of Professor Charles Krebs.  The focus of these research programs are on plant and animal dynamics in relation to climate change in the boreal forest. The vehicle is essential to transport students and equipment to field sites on difficult gravel and mud roads. Dr. Turkington has been working on this research since 1990 and Dr. Krebs since 1973.
