The Internet has become an indispensable tool for finding information 'quickly' using a search engine. However, today's web search engines still suffer from many problems. Users typically have to sift through a large number of 'matched' documents to find the information they really need. During the second half of 2005, major Internet search engine providers have released trial versions of integrated desktop and web search engines. This research is aimed at improving the performance, in accuracy and speed, of Internet search and web mining, by providing specialized hardware support for desktop computers.
