Research on insects ranges from genetics to ecology and provides valuable information at all levels of biological inquiry. Researchers in the Department of Biology, University of Toronto Mississauga carry-out cutting edge experiments in insect research that includes understanding how specific genes control nervous system development and function, how hormones control behaviour and physiology, and how prey avoid their predators in the environment. Basic research equipment is required to support these research activities, and environmentally controlled chambers are essential to ensure the viability of the insect colonies being studied and to ensure the reliability of the data that is generated. The present request is for two environmental chambers to house insects used in the applicants' research.
