The main part of this proposal concerns the estimation of how long subjects in a population survive when data from a sample have been collected by identifying those subjects who have a disease, and following them forward in time. When data are collected from these so-called prevalent cases, the observed lengths of time that the subjects survive tend to be longer than would be observed if subjects were recruited at the instants they acquired their disease. This issue is the main one addressed in this proposal.
