The TREK experiment at the new J-PARC 50 GeV proton accelerator in Japan is searching for new physics beyond the highly successful Standard Model (SM) of particle physics by making a precision measurement of the muon polarization perpendicular to the decay plane in the Kaon decay-- K+ --> mu+ pizero + neutrino. This transverse muon polarization is predicted to be zero in the SM and the final state interaction (FSI) is computed to be very small ( 1:100,000 ) so any non-zero value above this FSI prediction will be a definite indication of new physics.
