英文摘要
The University of Waterloo Neuroscience Research Group including Dr. David Spafford and Dr. Matthijs van der Meer (Department of Biology) requests a Zeitz Model DMZ Universal Microelectrode Puller produced by Zeitz-Instruments Vertriebs GmbH in Germany. The Zeitz puller is available in North America through Dagan Corporation of Minneapolis, Minnesota for $21,560 CAD. The fabrication of microelectrodes for electrophysiological recording is an essential tool for neurophysiologists. A microelectrode puller is in use every day with research associates, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students and undergraduate students. There is only one micropipette puller at the University of Waterloo. It is a twelve year old, P-97 Flaming/Brown Micropipette Puller that has stopped functioning properly. It is imperative that a second puller be available because there is no other puller available for crafting microelectrodes at the University of Waterloo. We are looking to replace the old micropipette puller with a Zeitz Model DMZ Universal Microelectrode Puller. The Zeitz model is a new generation puller that will pull electrodes from glass and also automatically polish the tips for electrophyiological recording. There are vertical micropipette pullers which make less precise tips (Sutter P-30 / Kopf) and more expensive Laser-Based machines (Sutter P-2000), but neither of these suited to our needs. We include only one quote for the Zeitz Model puller because there is no other equivalent puller on the market.
