The long term objective of my research program is to enhance and apply our capability to quantify wind transport of gases and particles in the atmospheric boundary layer. The program has brought to fruition a uniquely flexible inverse-dispersion method for quantifying gas emission (e.g. ammonia) from complex sources (e.g. cattle feedlots), a method that hinges on our demonstrated capability to compute an ensemble of realistic wind paths ("random flights," RF) from the source to a downwind gas concentration sensor.
