项目摘要

Oil sands processing is carried out on a very large scale, and meaningful scale-down studies to support new process design and development are essential to both innovation and long term growth of the industry. In scaled-down batch liquid-liquid mixing experiments, the challenge is to find a physically meaningful and scalable set of mixing variables, and a mixing geometry which allows those variables to be successfully and accurately applied in the design of a full-scale vessel. Ideally, a bench scale test should use 1L or less of sample, while an industrial scale vessel in the oil sands industry may hold 10 000 L or more. A test cell is proposed in this work which would allow such standardized mixing tests to be carried out for the oil sands
