Volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) copper-zinc-lead-(gold-silver) deposits have been and are important contributors to the provincial economy of Newfoundland and Labrador (e.g., Duck Pond, Buchans) and Canada (e.g., Noranda, Flin Flon, Bathurst), helping build Canada's nation. The research presented herein is aimed at understanding the rock chemistry, minerals present, and their compositions to evaluate the setting, nature, and origin of economic mineralization at the Little Deer VMS deposit near Springdale, Newfoundland and Labrador. The project is aimed at creating a better understanding of the Little Deer deposit and creating new geological, mineralogical, and chemical tools that will help in the exploration and development of the Little Deer deposit and other similar types of deposits in both Newfoundland and Labrador and globally. The results may help in increasing exploration efficiency and the potential identification of new resources in Newfoundland and Labrador and globally.
