英文摘要
The Gold Sniffer is a technology patented by Kendall Technology Inc.that will produce a hand held unit capable of detecting gold in mineral samples. The Gold Sniffer will detect gold in mineral samples in the field during mineral exploration or at the working face in a mine. At present, gold is measured by fire assay, atomic absorption or mass spectrometer techniques in a laboratory, which is expensive and time consuming, or a hand held X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) unit can be used to detect indicator elements that may imply the presence of gold. However, there is at present no hand held device that can detect gold at typical concentrations under field conditions. The Gold Sniffer's ability to detect gold is 100 to 1000 times more sensitive than an XRF unit, permitting the direct detection of gold in mineral samples. The Gold Sniffer will significantly increase the efficiency of gold mining and gold exploration. Kendall Technology has filed Canadian and US patents on the Gold Sniffer technology, demonstrated the viability of the concept, and is constructing a prototype of the Gold Sniffer. It is planned that Conestoga College will assist with the development of a prototype of the Gold Sniffer.
