英文摘要
The present proposal would allow development of systematic research efforts, which focus on the structure-property relationship in Mg-based Rare-Earth (RE) solid solution alloys of industrial importance. The studies will be carried out on binary systems, which include series of Mg-Gd, Mg-Y, Mg-Sm and Mg-Sc alloys. The proposed program assumes comprehensive studies of mechanical, electrical and microstructural properties developed during plastic deformation over the range of temperatures between 4.2K and 300K. The project will allow elucidating the contribution of different RE-elements such as Gd, Y, Sm and Sc on the properties of alloys and it will enhance our knowledge of the processes which determine strength and ductility of these materials. This knowledge can be used for the development of new alloys, with better combination of functional properties for automotive and other applications. The detailed knowledge of alloy behaviour will improve the reliability in processing operations and therefore will increase productivity in the industrial sector.
