项目摘要

The standard method for producing gold in large mines is cyanidation (cyanide-in-leach, cyanide-in-column, or heap leaching are some applications). As the mining industry has faced growing opposition to the use of cyanide in gold production, it has developed an alternative, thiosulfate leaching. In this process thiosulfate replaces cyanide as the chemical which binds and extracts gold from the ore in the leaching tanks. Thiosulfate leaching however suffers from some drawbacks including difficulty recovering gold from thiosulfate leaching solutions. We have developed an alternative adsorbent for thiosulfate leaching. Our initial results encourage us to consider commercial applications and identify market opportunities. Here we propose to perform a market assessment.
