This grant application is in support of our research on the development, planning, and coordinated control of multi-robot autonomous systems. Autonomous teams of robots can efficiently perform tasks such as area-exploration, mapping, foraging, surveillance, search & rescue, and in the near-future medical intervention (i.e., image-guided robotic surgery), through effective coordination. Multi-robot coordination (MRC) has been commonly defined as the task allocation and control of a team of autonomous robots in a common environment to achieve a global goal. Since different applications present different challenges, we focus on three synergetic sub-themes with generic novel objectives:
