This research builds on the experience of the researcher in spatial data infrastructure, crowdsourcing and mapping systems to address the developed world's next important mapping frontier - the indoors. So much more than just the creation of electronic floorplans, this work will refine the technologies and invent the processes required to rapidly but routinely collect the data required to create accurate and comprehensive 3D representations of the inside of major retail and institutional facilities - and then keep them up to date.
