In 2004 Carlberg initiated a Canadian program of site testing in the arctic and have sent an undergraduate and a graduate student to North West Ellesmere Island under the Polar Shelf program of Natural Resources Canada. The current program is an active collaboration with HIA-NRC (Eric Steinbring) and UBC (Paul Hickson). We have also worked with Defense Canada and Environment Canada who have helped us design and build arctic hardened equipment.
