The knee is the largest joint in the human body. Osteoarthritis of the knee is one of the most common joint diseases affecting 5-6% of the population. Unloader knee braces are prescribed for patients with osteoarthritis in one compartment of the knee. The Unloader knee braces apply valgus moment to the knee joint so that the compartment with osteoarthritis is unloaded. These braces use 3-point bending mechanism using a force strap to apply valgus moment on the knee. This strap causes a great deal of discomfort to the patient and hence the brace cannot be worn for longer period of times.
