项目摘要

The proposed research will investigate into cooperative communications and networking (i) to coordinate a cluster of base stations to provide multi-cell cooperation so as to expand the capacity of a single isolated cell and mitigate inter-cell interference in wireless cellular networks, (ii) to enhance signal reception at the destination receiver through cooperative relaying and diversity transmission/reception, while ensuring secure communication by introducing techniques to mitigate intentional and unintentional adversaries, e.g., malicious nodes and eavesdroppers, and (iii) to effect cooperative spectrum access in cognitive radio networks to achieve spectrum and energy efficiencies while satisfying the requirements of licensed or primary users (PUs). The fundamental reason for a source (sender) to engage a third party as partner(s) to relay its signal is because the quality of the direct link from source to destination may be very poor, e.g., either blocked by obstacles in the direct path or faded by impairments inherent in the wireless channel.
