Dynamic medical or biological images are acquired after a contrast agent or dye is injected and continue to track the changes that occur during the passage of the contrast agent through the tissue of interest. This kind of study provides far more information than can be obtained from static imaging techniques alone. For example an aggressive tumour will accumulate contrast agent more rapidly than a benign lesion allowing the clinician to make a diagnosis. Contrast enhanced imaging is also frequently carried out before and after a therapeutic procedure in order to obtain a measure of the patients' response.
