项目摘要

In the proposed project we aim to build on our research achievements in the area of haemorheology over the past five years to provide a detailed rheological description of in vitro blood flows all the way from those in large diameter vessels (macroscale, continuum or micro-macro description) to those in the microvasculature (microscale, discrete modelling methods). We aim to be able to consistently describe flows in vessels of intermediate size (c. 100 microns in diameter) using either approach. We will continue our commitment to the experimental validation, wherever possible, of our quantitative predictions.
