Disk structures are ubiquitous within the observable universe. Galaxies produce new stars in the spiral arms of their disks, planets form through the disk-like material left over from star formation, and black holes are associated with disks. Disks are also found around young and old stars as well as in binary systems. Currently, my research focuses on disk material associated with massive stars in order to understand the process of disk formation and the influence that these systems have on their surroundings. Massive stars are an important source of both winds and ionizing radiation that affect their immediate environment as well as shape the evolution of their parent galaxy.
