The analysis of remote-sensing imagery (e.g., satellite imagery) is of critical importance for climate change studies, agriculture and forestry in Canada. A compelling case can be made that advanced computational and statistical methods need to be adapted to the context of geospatial analysis in order to produce reliable scientific knowledge that makes optimal use of the often very costly data. This project focuses on two applied areas in which such novel methods are of critical importance.
