Relaying techniques have been considered in advanced wireless communications networks including Long Term Evolution - Advance (LTE-A) networks and WiFi networks. The proposed research is to investigate and develop algorithms that further exploit time diversity in relay-assisted LTE-A and WiFi networks, to further enhance the system performance. To reduce the overhead in information exchange, the time diversity will be exploited in a distributed manner. The research will be conducted in slow-fading scenario, in fast-fading scenario, and/or with quality-of-service guarantee for each individual user. Low-complexity algorithms are expected, which can fully exploit the time diversity in LTE-A and WiFi networks with relays.
