The world is demanding an increased pace of energy requirement due to rapid technology development and economic growth worldwide. The reserves of fossil fuels that currently power our society will short of this demand over the long term, and their continued use produces harmful side effects such as pollution that threatens human health and generate greenhouse gases associated with climate change. Energy harvesting, a preferred choice for green energy systems, making use of the energy from the environment, such as solar energy, wind energy, thermal energy and other clean energy has attracted lots of attention both with academia and industry. However, since harvesting energy depends on natural conditions, it is not a stable energy source. As a result, the energy from power grid is often included to serve as a supplementary source to regulate the overall energy supply of the system.
