英文摘要
Collège Boréal is a francophone postsecondary institution that has celebrated many recent applied research successes due to our partnerships with industry partners and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC). Chiefly among the successes are the research projects conducted by our Environmental Science research team. The college has two Environmental Science programs, which were the first to obtain and complete NSERC's Applied Research and Development program: (a) fish and wildlife management, and (b) forestry and wildlife management. As a result, faculty members have gained confidence in their ability to execute applied research and industry partners from the Environmental Sciences have approached them about future projects to better address their needs. The intent within the present application is to position the college so that they may accommodate and execute three new projects so that their industry partners reach their applied research objectives and satisfy their clients. With the support of NSERC, one full-time administrative position will be integrated with hopes of not only executing the plan in the present research proposal but also draft a competitive application for a Five-Year IE grant in the fall of 2016. Further, funds will be allocated towards a part-time position for one research technician and three student research assistants. Lastly, funds will be used to ensure that the applied research manager and researchers may travel for professional development opportunities and to promote the college's research activities. The present proposal is an attempt to justify the allocation of funds derived from the Entry-Level IE grant program.
