英文摘要
Vaccine discovery and development involves areas of the sciences, which enable a better understanding of molecular pathways, proteins, etc, and develop laboratory techniques needed to study these components. Mathematical modelling has been used as a tool for rational design, validation, prioritization, safety evaluation, and economical assessment . However, it is generally noted that there is a need for greater integration of mathematical and computational modelling tools in the entire discovery and development process, as these models can provide both quantitative and qualitative results that are cheap, practical, sensitive, and specific, and capture real aspects of the disease and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamics that are accepted as clinically and biologically meaningful. We therefore propose to hold a workshop on "Mathematical Mobilization of Vaccine Discovery and Development" to bring together experts in drug discovery, drug development, mathematical modelling, and the Canadian immunization approval process so that we can work towards a more efficient discovery to development to implementation system. We will determine new mathematical tools that will be needed and where mathematical modeling studies may have the most impact. Workshop objectives:
