Giatec Scientific Inc. has developed innovative sensor products for monitoring the corrosion rate of concrete infrastructure such as bridges and buildings. Giatec is interested to test and verify their products for collecting corrosion data on a sample of bridges that are exposed to the corrosive effect of road salts. This will provide Giatec an opportunity to not only explore new application areas but also improve the calibration and performance of their devices. The project will be conducted by a University of Waterloo research team who has extensive experience on research related to winter road maintenance and development of innovative transportation solutions. The research team will collect and compile corrosion data using Giatec devices at a sample of concrete bridges in Ontario along with other data such as the annual amounts of salt that have been
