My research program covers insurance risk modelling and management, and it focuses on two areas: 1. Ruin Analysis of Insurance Risk Models and Spin-Off Applications; 2. Valuation and Hedging of Equity-Linked Annuities. The research in the first area deals with the development of various insurance risk models and mathematical methods for the analysis of ruin-related quantities for these models. Recently, I have expanded the scope of my research and look into ways to apply the models and methods developed for ruin analysis to problems in other areas of actuarial science including insurance loss modelling and mortality modelling. The second area concerns minimum return guarantees embedded in equity-linked annuities. The research focuses on modelling risky assets that underlie the annuities, the valuation of minimum guarantees and the design of hedging strategies for these guarantees.
