英文摘要
The INano peripheral nerve stimulator (APNS) helps anesthesiologists precisely locate nerves when administering regional anesthesia, using extremely accurate electrical current and automatic detection of muscle responses. However, a better way is needed to verify the anesthesia's effectiveness (i.e., no movement when a nerve is stimulated) since small responses might not be visible. This project will develop and assess an ultrasound method for measuring small muscle movements, thereby providing a directly measurable method for verify ing that the anesthesia is working. A successful system must be able to detect nonvisible muscle contractions during nerve stimulation.
