In the recent years, cloud computing has emerged as one of the top enterprise Information Management objectives in the context of information handling and delivery, with focus on developing methods and policies to safeguard the information assets, and protecting the security and privacy of data in cloud storages. As a consequence of this pervasive monitoring, a huge volume of data is expected to be generated, which will require that efficient storage and processing techniques be developed to enable the data to be remotely accessed and analyzed for the purpose of supporting a smart decision-making process; and efficient security methods be developed to ensure the protection of data in the cloud storage. Focusing on the latter, several organizations that maintain and handle sensitive information have been dragging their feet over security concerns in cloud environments. Likewise security has widely been seen has the number one threat to cloud adoption. This
project aims to develop a new set cloud security monitoring technologies in the form of a secured enterprise data deduplication scheme capable of ensuring the integrity and privacy of the data once in the cloud storage. The developed product is meant to be included as an additional layer of service of an existing company's strong security solutions against account hijacking, data loss/leakage, and malicious insider's attacks. The developed product will be implemented and tested as a client/server security software system. It is expected that it will allow the enterprise to facilitate some of its operations such as searching over the encrypted data, sharing the data internally between users, and downloading the data from the cloud storage directly, in a secure and efficient manner, without the need to trust the Cloud Service Provider (CSP). This unique feature will enable our industry partner to establish a competitive edge and leadership position in the emerging IT security market.
