英文摘要
Professor Leslie has developed a novel "Molecular Manipulation and Nanoscopy Platform" which enables single-molecule visualization of a wide range of molecular processes, with applications to materials science, chemistry, nanotechnology, medicine, and biology. Recently, her research and technology development has attracted industrial partnership with two diagnostic companies. Given the range of possibilities of her technology and its growing commercialization potential, the challenge is to identify which market and/or end application would have the highest probability of success. In investigating the market potential, the available market reports by firms like Frost and Sullivan and BCC Market, while providing excellent analyses about the market in general and identifying the key competitors, do not have sufficient granularity to enable conclusions on market potential of emerging technologies. In this proposed market assessment, we would address the following market research questions: 1.) Total addressable market size for Leslie's nanoscopy and molecular manipulation technology portfolio and each of the application-specific technologies such as DNA sequencing and biomarker detection; 2.) Competitive analysis with a focus on price and scalability; 3.) Channel to market analysis. Ultimately the proposed market assessment will serve to guide the technology transfer office and Professor Leslie in determining the commercialization strategy, specifically whether to pursue a licensing model or creation of a startup.
