This work will be accomplished in collaboration with Wallbridge Mining Company, Limited, which owns a
large land package of properties in the North Range of the Sudbury complex. Wallbridge will provide a crucial
and expensive high-resolution airborne-image of the North Range (~$83,500). The results from this study will
provide mutual benefits to both parties involved, and the means for exploring future opportunities between
Western and Wallbridge. The main objective is to utilize modern satellite and airborne image processing
techniques to identify linear and quasi-linear features associated with the Sudbury impact structure. Some of
these features represent fractures and faults associated with the impact event that formed Sudbury. If the spatial
density, distribution, geometric pattern and orientation of features tied to the impact event can be reconstructed,
then the original diameter of Sudbury may be determined. This in turn will increase our ability to predict were
new economic resources deposits associated with Sudbury may be found.
