项目摘要
Atlantic Motor Labs Inc. is an engineering company specializing in turbomachinery development. They have
developed a unique fluid powered motor technology that is convenient for use in downhole applications and
harsh environments in the oil and gas industry, and mining operations. This motor technology combines the
advantages of turbines and positive displacement motors to create a product that operates with high torque,
high durability, and extreme versatility.
This goal of this research project is to develop a more detailed understanding of how the motor's performance
changes when it is operated with mixtures of compressible and incompressible fluids. In turn, this will help
Atlantic Motor Labs to optimize their motor designs more effectively for use in various industrial applications.
The detailed understanding will be obtained by developing a detailed computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
model. This model will then be used to investigate performance for a wide variety of configurations and fluid
properties.
