英文摘要
As an important component of industrial engineering, human factors and ergonomics study the interaction between operators (workers) and machines/environment in the industrial settings. The current project will bring academic knowledge to Pro-Flange Ltd., a manufacturing company located in Cambridge, Ontario. The company has found problems related to human factors and ergonomics, such as defects caused by human errors, need for effective training, material handling issues, and hearing protection. The PI has expertise in this research area and can help transfer the knowledge to the company. During the six months of this project, the PI's team will work closely with engineers and machinists at Pro-Flange to analyze the problems, implement solutions, and measure performance after changes. Pro-Flange is in full support of this project and is eager to create their own knowledge bank about human factors and ergonomics. The results and the knowledge gained through this project will benefit Pro-Flange as well as the Canadian manufacturing industry in general.
