Mersen Canada Toronto Inc. is a manufacturer for the electrical power industry operating out of Mississauga, Ontario. Their location has become Canadas largest supplier of heat sinks, which they manufacture from both copper and aluminum. Mersens success has arisen from their unique manufacturing methods and high quality products; however they must now aim to increase their production to compete in the growing heat sink market. In an effort to increase production speed and volume while maintaining high quality output, the company is seeking to apply improvements to several of their processes. Dr. Ng is a well known expert in machining process optimization. He will be working in close collaboration with Mersen to determine optimal tooling, process parameters and fixturing for these processes. Throughout Dr. Ngs extensive research in manufacturing, he has previously developed a number of tooling innovations and process parameter selection techniques for optimizing machining performance.
