In collaboration with Huron Digital Pathology Inc., located in Waterloo, Ontario, the University of Toronto
(UofT) team aims to develop an innovative image processing algorithmic framework for digital pathology (DP)
scanners in tissue imaging applications. Using tools from signal & image processing, computer vision, and
machine learning, we applicants plan to research, develop, and test new, cutting-edge algorithms to acquire,
analyze, and store histo pathological images. The proposed framework will greatly decrease the time and
computational complexity of the image acquisition and scanning process while improving accuracy and
reliability, and enhancing the end-user experience.
