英文摘要
Machine-to-machine (M2M) or machine-type communications (MTC),which acts as an enabling technology for the practical realization of Internet-of-Things (IoT), is an emerging technology to establish ubiquitous direct connectivity links among devices and bypassing the base-station. The next generation of cellular networks, called the fifth generation (5G) Long-Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A), are considered a ready-to-use infrastructure to implement M2M communications. However, the major technical challenges posed by M2M-LTE applications include different data transactions, diverse applications, and a large number of connections. To accommodate such a massive number of devices, M2M system architecture should offer advantages such as ultra-low complexity, extreme energy efficiency, critical timing, reliability and wide coverage. Due to the open nature of the wireless medium and the specific nature of the M2M networking architecture, which involves broadcast and superposition, wireless M2M communication is often vulnerable to eavesdropping by unauthorized users and, thus, guaranteeing secure transmission over the wireless channels against security attacks discomposes great challenges in network design. In consultation with our supporting organization, WiMatek Systems, we have identified a key issue of M2M communications in 5G LTE networks, which is the physical layer security in M2M communications. The target is to to design innovative secrecy algorithms that can work in short durations in M2M communications and can be implemented in practice. In this project, we propose to develop new theories, algorithms and design guidelines that address these research challenges and will enable the practical implementation of M2M communications.
