Intelligent telemetry jacket for laboratory animals

During the development of new pharmaceutical molecules, tests are performed on animals to ensure its innocuousness. Among the different studies conducted, telemetry is often used to monitor remotely an continuously several parameters including ECG, breathing rate, etc. Until now, the sensors were hold in place solely by wearing a jacket, which could lead to data loss in case of electrode displacement and could create discomfort for the animals. The company Lomir Biomedical Inc. has for mission to improve this method by integrating directly textile sensors within a smart jacket,which could be worn at all times and therefore would facilitate the work of the technicians manipulating the animals. The work to be undertaken will consist of a first phase of identification of the materials constituting the jacket. Those materials will have to be comfortable, robust and capable of obtaining reliable results. Indeed, during the second phase some testing will be conducted in order to evaluate the detection and the quality of the signal and consequently validate the placement of the electrodes.
