英文摘要
Global warming is already having a profound impact on Arctic climate. An observed consequence is the reduction of the annual ice cover at the periphery. The objective of this research program is to improve our understanding of the connections between the diminishing ice cover and the local ecosystems in the Canadian Arctic. We are particularly interested in the exchange of water between Beaufort Sea and Baffin Bay, through the Northwest Passage. We will also study some of the physical processes controlling the circulation and mixing in the region: eddies, upwelling and vertical convection at ice formation time.
