The proposed research will result in the design of a high strength, light-weight, cost effective pulp screen cylinder that will be able to provide high throughput at significantly reduced electrical energy consumption levels. The research consists of 2 Ph.D. projects: The first is to develop a computational and experimental understanding of fluid dynamic phenomena that limits throughput and the second is to develop a detailed model of the complex structural integrity limits.
