Located in Mississauga, Ontario, Mersen Canada Toronto Inc. (http://ep-ca.mersen.com) is a leader in the electrical power industry, manufacturing a variety of electronic components including fuses, switches, power resistors, DC bar contactors,laminated bus bars and heat sinks. The growing use of electricity has led to an increased need for heat sinks to cool high-power devices, such as converters and electric motors. This presents the opportunity for companies like Mersen to increase their output and merge into the high-volume production market, allowing them to create more jobs and earn greater profits. Currently, Mersen has several production styles to produce heat sinks for varying customer requirements and is seeking to be more competitive withthe assistance of Sheridan College, through the Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Design Technologies (CAMDT) in Brampton, Ontario. The proposed solution will be driven by the development of advanced machinery to perform labour-intensive tasks at a higher efficiency and free up resources for other activity in the production facility. This proposed partnership will help Mersen better meet market prices to obtain more business.
