The objective of this proposed research is to develop an improved understanding of mini-frac tests in tight formations through coupled reservoir and geomechanical modeling. The current research will focus on attaining a standard methodology for mini-frac interpretation that can be widely accepted by the industry. The objectives will be met through building a representative model for min-fracturing in tight formation, simulating the ideal leak-off behavior followed by non-ideal phenomena such as well bore storage, pressure dependent leak-off and height recession - transverse storage etc. While modeling min-fracturing - simulated pressure response will be analyzed using both Holistic and PTA based approach in an effort to identify appropriateness of any such method in explaining various phenomena noted in the literature.
