Developing methodologies that facilitate the performance of healthcare practitioners care delivery in interdisciplinary healthcare teams

The advantages of interdisciplinary healthcare team (IHT) collaboration in healthcare delivery are highly acknowledged in the literature. These advantages include significant improvements for patients, healthcare professionals, educators, and the healthcare system in general. However, the literature shows that despite the wide recognition of the IHT importance, there is a lack of a comprehensive approach for the modeling of IHT and providing a systematic framework for overcoming coordination and collaboration IHT challenges. The proposed research is designed to fill this gap. This research has a theoretical importance by providing a comprehensive systematic approach for the IHT structuring that can be implemented in a variety of other domains, such as research activities, production and providing services etc., where interdisciplinary teams are involved. Moreover, this research incorporates a synergy of the system design and behavioral research methodologies. The research also has a significant practical contribution that will improve our ability to develop systems to support decision-making, coordination and collaboration of IHTs in healthcare teams as well as in teams from other domains.
