Momentaj Inc. is a Toronto-based IT firm specializing in cloud-based and data analytic services for theemerging Internet of Things (IoT) market. Building on expertise in communications and data-driven services,Momentaj is working to lay the groundwork for an Indoor Positioning System (IPS) and Real-time LocationSystem (RTLS) for IoT applications. Asset Tracking RTLS technologies enable the real time workflowmanagement of products making it effortless to locate sub-assemblies and final products to fill client orders.Bluetooth Smart systems reduce the dwell time of a product on assembly lines to delivery chains ensuring thatall assets and products are visible. This works by affixing Bluetooth Smart (BLE) tags to workers, assets,assembly points, and finished components with the unique universal identifier configured to serial numbers.In this research project, Momentaj will collaborate with Ryerson University to establish a reliable base datatransmission system that can be expanded to include the integration of smart building sensors to measureindoor environmental factors such as humidity and temperature. In this research project, the BLE system willbe tested and analyzed, in addition to the development of the BLE sensor-enabled beacons. The results of thisresearch project will have benefits for Canadian industries such as Manufacturing, Warehousing, Travel, andHealthcare.
