On June 1 2011, our team, with faculty members from Computing Science (CS), Occupational Therapy (OT), Industrial Design (ID), and Pharmacy (Pharm), presented to the University of Alberta's Health Sciences Council our vision of (a) conducting interdisciplinary research in innovative technologies for supporting health-care services, and (b) training a new generation of healthcare professionals and technical experts who can work together to deliver these technology-based health-care services in the real world. Based on this plan, we were given access to the Smart-CondoTM simulated learning environment, a 70m2 apartment in the Edmonton Clinic Health Academy.
