The Nobel Prize winning discovery of electronically conducting organic materials has led to the realization of inexpensive, light weight, and flexible solar cell technologies. The proposed research program will focus on the introduction of new molecular based organic materials and concepts relevant to the field of printable solar cells that will enable the realization of significant improvements in device operation. It is the goal of my research program to establish a set of criteria for the generation of materials with desirable film forming properties, targeted optical and electrochemical properties, and which form suitable self-organized nanostructures required for optoelectronic device operation.
